Resolutions June: Cystal Munchers Galore |

This month I went with more House Crystal Lotus. I found more Dream Warriors including the super rare or at least not commonly seen Dream Warrior Leader and promptly painted them too as long as I still remembered how I had done the previous batch.
The Dream Warriors were a bit experimental. To capture their ethereal quality, they are done in extremely limited palette. I based the flat black like I almost always do, but to lighten that up I gave them a light spray of white on top.
This was then washed with blue ink and drybrushed successively in light sky blue and pure white. The metallic parts were silver again with blue inkwash and brought back with silver drybrush.
I decided to do the skin in natural style to give a little bit of contrast and also to show that they are not ghosts despite their ethereal qualities.
The one thing I'm not quite happy with are the gems. I wanted them to really sparkle but I just couldn't pull it off. Perhaps the color choice was wrong, perhaps I just need more practice doing faceted gems.
To bolster the ranks I dug up my elven swordsmen. These are pretty basic models I did in more traditional style working off a heavy drybrush. Unfortunately their simpler cloaks weren't really suited for the two-tone blue scheme I had used for the militia so I used the light blue on the shields instead.
The shield design was pure inspiration. I did not have suitable transfers and I don't like them anyways. I thought about a simple diagonal line, but the shields really didn't have a good place for that. So I finally had the idea to add a little sparkle to them!
Next month... hmmm... what to do? Finally getting to orcs? Finish off the elves or the dwarfs? Or maybe it's time for the Firstborn? I do have Devout and the lizards lying about somewhere too...
