	Hydra Side shot. The Body is azul intenso (yes, I got bottles with spanish labels).

	Hydra For some reason, I didn't like Vallejo for drybrushing. Too liquid, I guess, it easily turns into wetbrushing. For drybrushing I used the Miniature Paints paints that I normally use for everything.
	Hydra I needed something to break the monotone of the blue, so I added the white stripe.
	Demon This is a Chronopia figure from their Devout line. I believe it's called The Irritated. Or something.
	Demon Unfortunately, I had this weird grainy primer, which pretty much ruined the entire figure. Sometimes it works just fine, but in this case it really didn't.
	Demon The figure was extremely difficult to highlight due to the grainy primer surface. If I had paid full price for this, I should have just stripped the primer and started again. But I got it from a clearance sale for a pittance, and I still have two or three left...
	Demon Back view. The original color scheme on the box art was greenish, but I chose the classic red demon look instead, to better fit with an upcoming project.
	Demon The flail was a real bitch assemple. The skull and chains are a separate casting. The contact area with the staff is just too small. I tried superglue, I tried epoxy, the damn thing fell off three or four times during painting. In the end I just gave up and glued it to the base.

	Chronopia: Firstborn And the obligatory overhead view.
	Chronopia: Firstborn The first squad of Firstborn is done! These are the venerable swordsmen. I decided against the official checkered color scheme and used red with white piping instead.
	Chronopia: Firstborn There are only two poses of the basic swordsman.
	Chronopia: Firstborn Note that the guy with the two-hander does not have the shoulder pads... otherwise, he'd never be able to take that pose. The rest of the squad is mostly an excuse to buy these guys.

	Firstborn macemen The macemen arrayed for battle. In game terms the swordsmen tend to be better troops, but these are nice minis.
	Firstborn characters Ok, the great maceman isn't really a character. He got included in this group because he forgot to wear his helmet.
	Firstborn Chronomancer The gloves were a bit troublesome - they seem to be part armor, part cloth or leather.

	Firstborn Repulsar Knight I was really disappointed with this mini. The game artwork shows a Repulsar Knight jumping into the middle of a horde of enemies - I was expecting a far more dynamic pose. Switched the polearm position slightly to make it even a little bit interesting.
	Firstborn Repulsar Knight Here's the polearm blade done in my patented BMM style. That's Bare Metal Metal. After painting the blade black and drybrushing with gunmetal, the edge is then scraped clean of paint, exposing the real metal. Obviously, this technique doesn't work all that well with plastic minis. And no, I didn't really invent it.

	Firstborn maceman These were the first figures where I tried the Foundry 3-color system and was actually satisfied with the results. The musculature is so exaggerated it was easy for even me to place the highlights right.

	Elven Axemaster Interestingly, this special trooper is cheaper in points than a regular axe elf. While he may be good for chopping up weak opponents, the hand axes lack the punch of the big cleavers.
	Elven Axemaster Even so, he must be a dopplesoldner. He's got a money pouch under each arm while the other troopers have just one or even none.

	Tusk Legionnaire This is the other pose. Initially I intended to paint a colorful design on the shield, but inspiration evaded me so I just painted it kinda brownish. The wood grain is sculpted rather deeply there.

	The Cave I think it's a tad large for the two figures, but the size was dictated by the contest rules.

	The Cave The base is made from blue foam and the cave/hill is made from offcuts of the same material.

	The Cave It was a winter contest so I wanted to make a winter scene. It might have been a better idea to try it out on something else first.
	The Cave I made the snow using plaster, white glue and paint.
	The Cave Unfortunately I put in way too much paint and it simply refused to dry...
	The Cave It took almost three days to finally dry, and that was after I scooped out the most offending pools of sludge.
	The Cave I marked to spots for the figures using spare bases, then I dug them out after the snow had dried.

	The Cave I used a hot wire cutter for the basic shaping of the foam.

	The Cave I didn't want to attach the figures permanently, so I simply made holes for their bases.
	The Cave Their bases are simply disguised with loose salt. It worked surprisingly well.
	The Cave Someone pointed out that the helmet ornament looks like a snail. I guess they were kinda right about that...
	The Cave These figures are actually very heavy. There's probably enough metal there for two or three regular figures.
	The Cave And the rock is... just a rock from my yard.
	The Cave My initial idea was to press the footprints into the snow while it was drying.
	The Cave Well, that didn't work out either. I had to cut the footprints out with a scalpel after the snow had dried.
	The Cave I thought about adding glowing eyes to the back of the cave.
	The Cave You might ask why there are tracks going into the cave but none for the hunters...
	The Cave It's difficult to take photos from this angle because the darn cave is in the way.

	Devout The color scheme is pretty cold, with just a little red as spot color and a hint of gold details.
