Hydra
Side shot. The Body is azul intenso (yes, I got bottles with spanish labels).
2003-12-17
Hydra
This is actually a Chronopia figure, Stygian Sisters of Tiamat.
2003-12-17
Hydra
This is actually one of the first figures I painted (almost) entirely in Vallejo colors.
2003-12-17
Hydra
Back shot. Instead of painting a more complex design, I decided to highlight the spots with white.
2003-12-17
Hydra
Another useless top view.
2003-12-17
Hydra
The teeth are done in buff. I decided against the official 'lipstick' color scheme.
2003-12-17
Hydra
For some reason, I didn't like Vallejo for drybrushing. Too liquid, I guess, it easily turns into wetbrushing. For drybrushing I used the Miniature Paints paints that I normally use for everything.
2003-12-17
Hydra
I needed something to break the monotone of the blue, so I added the white stripe.
2004-06-11
Demon
This is a Chronopia figure from their Devout line. I believe it's called The Irritated. Or something.
2004-06-11
Demon
Unfortunately, I had this weird grainy primer, which pretty much ruined the entire figure. Sometimes it works just fine, but in this case it really didn't.
2004-06-11
Demon
The figure was extremely difficult to highlight due to the grainy primer surface. If I had paid full price for this, I should have just stripped the primer and started again. But I got it from a clearance sale for a pittance, and I still have two or three left...
2004-06-11
Demon
Back view. The original color scheme on the box art was greenish, but I chose the classic red demon look instead, to better fit with an upcoming project.
2004-06-11
Demon
The flail was a real bitch assemple. The skull and chains are a separate casting. The contact area with the staff is just too small. I tried superglue, I tried epoxy, the damn thing fell off three or four times during painting. In the end I just gave up and glued it to the base.
2004-06-11
Demon
Closeup on the face. This really shows how bad it is.
2004-06-11
Demon
Closeup on the cursed seam. Grin all you like, you're glued to the turf now!
2006-03-20
Chronopia: Firstborn
And the obligatory overhead view.
2006-03-20
Chronopia: Firstborn
The first squad of Firstborn is done! These are the venerable swordsmen. I decided against the official checkered color scheme and used red with white piping instead.
2006-03-20
Chronopia: Firstborn
There are only two poses of the basic swordsman.
2006-03-20
Chronopia: Firstborn
Note that the guy with the two-hander does not have the shoulder pads... otherwise, he'd never be able to take that pose. The rest of the squad is mostly an excuse to buy these guys.
2006-03-20
Chronopia: Firstborn
Swordsman leader. Unlike his profile entry, the actual miniature does not sport a shield. Looking at the pose, it easily could... but one is not included.
2006-03-20
Chronopia: Firstborn
The other pose of basic swordsmen.
2006-03-20
Chronopia: Firstborn
Standard bearer.
2006-04-01
Firstborn macemen
The macemen arrayed for battle. In game terms the swordsmen tend to be better troops, but these are nice minis.
2006-04-01
Firstborn characters
Ok, the great maceman isn't really a character. He got included in this group because he forgot to wear his helmet.
2006-04-01
Firstborn Chronomancer
The gloves were a bit troublesome - they seem to be part armor, part cloth or leather.
2006-04-01
Firstborn greatmaceman
The punch in a maceman troop.
2006-04-01
Firstborn Judge
A delightfully commissar-like character.
2006-04-01
Firstborn Repulsar Knight
I was really disappointed with this mini. The game artwork shows a Repulsar Knight jumping into the middle of a horde of enemies - I was expecting a far more dynamic pose. Switched the polearm position slightly to make it even a little bit interesting.
2006-04-01
Firstborn Repulsar Knight
Here's the polearm blade done in my patented BMM style. That's Bare Metal Metal. After painting the blade black and drybrushing with gunmetal, the edge is then scraped clean of paint, exposing the real metal. Obviously, this technique doesn't work all that well with plastic minis. And no, I didn't really invent it.
2006-04-01
Firstborn Repulsar Knight
Another view of the stiff Knight.
2006-04-01
Firstborn macemen
The obligatory overhead view.
2006-04-01
Firstborn maceman leader
Again, there's the shield discrepancy...
2006-04-01
Firstborn maceman
The pose is pretty much the same as one of the swordsmen.
2006-04-01
Firstborn maceman
These were the first figures where I tried the Foundry 3-color system and was actually satisfied with the results. The musculature is so exaggerated it was easy for even me to place the highlights right.
2006-04-01
Firstborn maceman standard bearer
Why a troop of less than ten warriors need their own flag is beyond me, though...
2006-04-15
Firstborn Iron Guard
Kev White's early work: Firstborn Iron guard.
2006-04-15
Firstborn Iron Guard
And the obligatory overhead view.
2006-04-15
Firstborn Iron Guard
Basic trooper. Curiously, there are four poses of the trooper in the boxed set, but only two in blisters.
2006-04-15
Firstborn Iron Guard
Leader. This guy came without a tab for the base. As his pose is also a rather tiptoe one, I attached a 2mm wire to the base and drilled a hole for it under the skirt.
2006-04-15
Firstborn Iron Guard
Another basic trooper.
2006-04-15
Firstborn Iron Guard
Yet another trooper. The official color scheme was a bit black, but I wanted to give them silver armor to offset them against the swordsmen and macemen.
2006-04-15
Firstborn Iron Guard
The final trooper pose.
2006-04-15
Firstborn Iron Guard
Standard bearer. The soft metal pole in not very good for this.
2006-04-15
Firstborn Iron Guard
Closeup of the standard bearer.
2006-05-28
Miss Piggy's Finest
With round killing things.
2006-05-28
Miss Piggy's Finest
Originally, I intended to put more bronze on this.
2006-05-28
Miss Piggy's Finest
I quite like the face even though the head position is somewhat unnatural.
2006-05-28
Miss Piggy's Finest
The non-metallic parts are done in 3-color style.
2006-05-28
Miss Piggy's Finest
Another Dark-star warrior.
2006-05-28
Miss Piggy's Finest
I'm not entirely happy with the helmet. Maybe it should have been all bronze...
2006-05-28
Miss Piggy's Finest
The bronze is inkwashed gold. Maybe drybrushing would have worked better...
2006-06-27
Elves
The House of Helios troops ready for battle.
2006-06-27
Elven Axemen
Elven axemen. I really like this concept, it deviates from the normal pansy imagery.
2006-06-27
Elven Spearmen
Elven spearmen. While not as manly as the axe-elfs, these guys are no pushovers either.
2006-06-27
Elven Spearmen Leaders
Spearman command, leader and standard bearer.
2006-06-27
Elven Spearman Standard Bearer
I couldn't find a transfer I liked for the banners and shields, and knowing that I suck at freehand, I painted this abstract flame motif instead.
2006-06-27
Elven Spearmen
Ready to receive a charge.
2006-06-27
Elven Spearmen
The shields are nicely visible here.
2006-06-27
Elven Spearman
If you look closely, you can see I skimped on the dangly stuff in the belly.
2006-06-27
Elven Spearman
A closer look at the shield.
2006-06-27
Elven Spearman
As normal, the trooper blisters come with just two poses.
2006-06-27
Elven Spearman
These guy smust value their butts highly, because they are so keen on protecting it.
2006-06-27
Elven Spearman Leader
I left the eyesockets black.
2006-06-27
Elven Axemen
The command trio.
2006-06-27
Elven Axeman Leader
I think I overuse red color schemes, so I made these guys yellow instead, for the House of Helios.
2006-06-27
Elven Axeman Leader
I'm not happy with the belt.
2006-06-27
Elven Axeman Standard Bearer
The right hand was a bit hard to assemble.
2006-06-27
Elven Axeman Standard Bearer
Here's another view of the flame motif banner.
2006-06-27
Elven Axemaster
Interestingly, this special trooper is cheaper in points than a regular axe elf. While he may be good for chopping up weak opponents, the hand axes lack the punch of the big cleavers.
2006-06-27
Elven Axemaster
Even so, he must be a dopplesoldner. He's got a money pouch under each arm while the other troopers have just one or even none.
2006-06-27
Elven Axemen
Two-pose wonders arrayed for battle.
2006-06-27
Elven Axemen
I still can't shade the gold. The cingulum thingy is shaded in all three Foundry gold shades, but it looks awfully single color to me.
2006-06-27
Elven Axemen
I thought about doing the edges of the axe blades in bare metal, but in the end fatigue won out.
2006-06-27
An Elven Mess
The pansies don't even need an enemy to screw up their formation...
2006-07-01
Elven elite
Most of my elves are painted as House of Helios, but since the Adamantite Golem is Obsidian Serpent exclusive, I guess I gotta paint some troops in their colors too... and then some Crystal Lotus ones for the Crystal Knight...
2006-07-01
Warrior of the Golden Mask
A better view of the sashimono. Errmm, I don't know what the pointy ears call it really...
2006-07-01
Adamantite Golem
I really like this figure, and it was easy to paint too.
2006-07-01
Adamantite Golem
I thought about doing the detail in silver, but I guess the miniature would have been too monotone then...
2006-07-01
Adamantite Golem
This is almost entirely drybrushed. The helmet was a bit hard to reach, though.
2006-07-01
Keeper of the Flame Leader
This is the leader figure for the Keepers.
2006-07-01
Keeper of the Flame Leader
Originally, I meant to give them just plain red clothing, but then I decided to do the flame motif and I'm pretty happy with the results.
2006-07-01
Keepers of the Flame
One of the two trooper blister poses.
2006-07-01
Keepers of the Flame
The other pose. Unlike the leader, these are single-part minis and a bit flat in appearance.
2006-07-01
Elven elite
Warrior of the Golden Mask and Keepers of the Flame out and about, backed up by an Adamantite Golem from the House of Obsidian Serpent.
2006-07-01
Elven elite
I rather like these figures, even though I still can't shade gold in 3-color style.
2006-07-01
Warrior of the Golden Mask
Here's the Big Mean Elf himself. I dropped the blue from the concept art and did him entirely in red/yellow/gold/black scheme.
2006-08-11
Tuskies gather
Hmmm.... how does this differ from the other picture? Oh well...
2006-08-11
Tusk clan warriors
Here's a group shot of the remaining batch of tuskies.
2006-08-11
Dark Tusk heroes
Three identical heroes. I gave them different hair colors, though.
2006-08-11
Dark Axe Warriors
One of the poses is noticeably smaller than the other one...
2006-08-11
Dark Axe Warriors
This is the beefier of the two. You'll note that the same basic body/pose has been re-used in many other dwarf figures in the early Chronopia line.
2006-08-11
Dark Axe Warriors
This is the weenier version.
2006-08-11
Tusk Legion
These are possibly the best Dark Tusk figures in the early line.
2006-08-11
Tusk Legionnaire
I really like this guy, even though I'm not quite happy with the golden armor.
2006-08-11
Tusk Legionnaire
Love the eyelashes. They are not missing the shields, they are actually the 'gauntlet' variant.
2006-08-11
Tusk Legionnaire
This is the other pose. Initially I intended to paint a colorful design on the shield, but inspiration evaded me so I just painted it kinda brownish. The wood grain is sculpted rather deeply there.
2006-08-11
Tusk Legion Leader
I messed up the shield. I still can't do metals in 3-color.
2006-08-11
Tusk Legion Standard Bearer
Nice piggie on a pole.
2006-08-11
Tusk Legion Standard Bearer
I painted the pelt cloak too dark, it doesn't stand out against the dark armor...
2006-09-04
Legion of the Horned Ones
Horned Ones assemble for a fight.
2006-09-04
Legion of the Horned Ones
The obligatory overhead view again.
2006-09-04
Legion of the Horned Ones
I was really uninspired thinking about a color scheme for this unit.
2006-09-04
Legion of the Horned Ones
Regular swordsmen. I actually like this pose best.
2006-09-04
Legion of the Horned Ones
Standard bearer, the only guy with a face.
2006-09-04
Legion of the Horned Ones
I think my box content was wrong. I think I got three leaders and one regular in these almost identical poses. I moved the shields from the back to the arm and bent the shield arms a bit to make them a little bit unique.
2006-09-04
Legion of the Horned Ones
Swordsman. I only have one of this pose.
2006-09-04
Legion of the Horned Ones
I think this was originally intended to be the leader pose, but my box had three of them...
2006-09-04
Legion of the Horned Ones
This one is almost identical, except the shoulder decoration and the fact that it originally came with the shield on the arm, not back. Also note the different, more plain, sword handle.
2006-09-04
Legion of the Horned Ones
This top view shows the differences.
2013-12-29
Sons of Kronos
Here are the barbarians I painted for the diorama.
2013-12-29
Sons of Kronos
The obligatory overhead view.
2013-12-29
Sons of Kronos
I had a big pile of these but I gave much of them away... now I feel pretty bad about that after all...
2013-12-29
Sons of Kronos
These are the basic infantry pack, which has two poses. I gues they would start to look pretty repetetive in larger formations.
2013-12-29
Sons of Kronos
The two spear chuckers.
2013-12-29
Sons of Kronos
The bases are a bit bland because I'm going to blend them into the diorama anyway.
2013-12-29
Sons of Kronos
Closer look at the cloaks.
2014-01-14
The Cave
This is the diorama I made for a contest.
2014-01-14
The Cave
It has two Chronopia Sons of Kronos figures.
2014-01-14
The Cave
I think it's a tad large for the two figures, but the size was dictated by the contest rules.
2014-01-14
The Cave
There's actually four figures in the pack, but they are in two identical poses and I didn't want to put identical figures in the diorama.
2014-01-14
The Cave
I did paint the two others as spares, though.
2014-01-14
The Cave
The base is made from blue foam and the cave/hill is made from offcuts of the same material.
2014-01-14
The Cave
The tree is just a twig I picked up from the yard.
2014-01-14
The Cave
I didn't really think about the layout all that much... and it shows.
2014-01-14
The Cave
I really should have put a hole in the back of the cave so we could have taken photos from that angle too.
2014-01-14
The Cave
It was a winter contest so I wanted to make a winter scene. It might have been a better idea to try it out on something else first.
2014-01-14
The Cave
I made the snow using plaster, white glue and paint.
2014-01-14
The Cave
Unfortunately I put in way too much paint and it simply refused to dry...
2014-01-14
The Cave
It took almost three days to finally dry, and that was after I scooped out the most offending pools of sludge.
2014-01-14
The Cave
I marked to spots for the figures using spare bases, then I dug them out after the snow had dried.
2014-01-14
The Cave
There is some spill evident.
2014-01-14
The Cave
I probably should have cleaned those up.
2014-01-14
The Cave
I used a hot wire cutter for the basic shaping of the foam.
2014-01-14
The Cave
Hmmm, should have cleaned that drip from the tree as well.
2014-01-14
The Cave
I didn't want to attach the figures permanently, so I simply made holes for their bases.
2014-01-14
The Cave
Their bases are simply disguised with loose salt. It worked surprisingly well.
2014-01-14
The Cave
Someone pointed out that the helmet ornament looks like a snail. I guess they were kinda right about that...
2014-01-14
The Cave
These figures are actually very heavy. There's probably enough metal there for two or three regular figures.
2014-01-14
The Cave
And the rock is... just a rock from my yard.
2014-01-14
The Cave
My initial idea was to press the footprints into the snow while it was drying.
2014-01-14
The Cave
Well, that didn't work out either. I had to cut the footprints out with a scalpel after the snow had dried.
2014-01-14
The Cave
I thought about adding glowing eyes to the back of the cave.
2014-01-14
The Cave
You might ask why there are tracks going into the cave but none for the hunters...
2014-01-14
The Cave
It's difficult to take photos from this angle because the darn cave is in the way.
2014-01-14
The Cave
Kinda loses the whole point when you can't see the cave.
2014-01-14
The Cave
Why does this remind me of a cake?
2014-01-14
The Cave
Yet another picture from this angle.
2014-01-14
The Cave
The setup is kinda realistic, but it's actually not very photogenic because both of the figures are facing the cave and it's impossible to take photos from that angle.
2014-01-14
The Cave
The obligatory overhead view.
2014-01-14
The Cave
Another overhead shot.
2014-01-14
The Cave
Maybe I should just give this to someone?
2014-01-14
The Cave
Building these is kinda fun, but after the fact they have zero use and are hard to store.
2014-01-14
The Cave
The tracks are accented with a light gray wash to make them stand out more.
2014-01-14
The Cave
As to who is living in the cave... no idea, but he leaves pretty impressive claw marks.
2014-01-14
The Cave
Perhaps I should have deleted some of these pictures...
2014-01-14
The Cave
It is getting hard to find more things to write about this thing.
2014-01-14
The Cave
In case you were wondering, I did paint the ground brown under all that snow.
2014-01-14
The Cave
The cave floor is the same brown -- I wanted to make sure that if there were bald spots the bare foam wouldn't show through.
2014-01-14
The Cave
It is actually pretty hard to take these photo indoors especially this time of the year.
2014-01-14
The Cave
Oopsie, where is my color balance...
2014-01-14
The Cave
I went to the club to take these pics because with the lighting in my hobby room I can get 1/8 or mayb 1/15 exposure times without using a flash.
2014-01-14
The Cave
Here's Mr. Snailhead again.
2014-01-14
The Cave
A background paper would have been nice too...
2014-01-14
The Cave
Yet another overhead shot.
2014-01-14
The Cave
I really should get more lighting for my hobby room...
2014-01-14
The Cave
A crow or something would have been a nice addition to the tree.
2014-01-14
The Cave
I'm not sure if the cave is more menacing this way or if it should have piles of bones or something.
2014-01-14
The Cave
Hmmm... piles or bones and carcasses half-hidden under the snow would have been a nice addition.
2014-01-14
The Cave
I think I just thought of a use for the policeman with a broken ankle...
2014-01-14
The Cave
This picture would have been good if I had used a background paper. Sigh... live and learn I guess...
2014-11-29
Chronopia Loot
Ok, this is the final batch. Sales have stopped...
2014-12-30
Bloodbone Axemen
Axemen arrayed for battle.
2014-12-30
Bloodbone Axemen
The obligatory overhead view.
2014-12-30
Bloodbone Axemen
These are old Chronopia figures. The tabs on them said 1997.
2014-12-30
Bloodbone Axemen
Ranked up they look pretty good.
2014-12-30
Bloodbone Axemen
Initially I didn't really like the dwarfs, but these are growing on me.
2014-12-30
Bloodbone Axemen
There's very little actual color on these.
2014-12-30
Bloodbone Axemen
I started with these because I thought the full helmets would be faster to paint.
2014-12-30
Bloodbone Axemen
A forest of ax blades.
2014-12-30
Bloodbone Axemen
The shields are hand painted.
2014-12-31
Miss Piggy's Finest
The ornate axes are pretty nice.
2014-12-31
Miss Piggy's Finest
Here they are, the final batch.
2014-12-31
Miss Piggy's Finest
The obligatory overhead view.
2014-12-31
Miss Piggy's Finest
Among the dwarf clans, I always had a soft spot for the Dark Tusks.
2014-12-31
Miss Piggy's Finest
If I recall correctly, they got an extra attack for the tusks on the helmets, which is borderline ridiculous.
2014-12-31
Miss Piggy's Finest
I chose these eight models, because I felt they were the fastest to paint in this situation. The rest will be coming with the next lot.
2014-12-31
Miss Piggy's Finest
The thin, err..., dark steely line?
2014-12-31
Miss Piggy's Finest
Swordsman models. The shield had such a nice wood texture I decided against trying to paint a symbol on it.
2014-12-31
Miss Piggy's Finest
Axemen swinging their boar's head axes.
2014-12-31
Miss Piggy's Finest
For some reason, this pose has about half the bulk of the others. This is actually rather common in Chronopia, especially in the dwarf models.
2015-01-10
Bloodbone Axemen
I do wonder why the swordsmen didn't come with shields, though. Oh well, it's a fantasy game, it doesn't have to make sense.
2015-01-10
Bloodbone Axemen
Here are the remaining Bloodbone axemen with a little bit of support from Miss Piggy's Finest.
2015-01-10
Bloodbone Axemen
The obligatory overhead view.
2015-01-10
Bloodbone Axemen
Looking all mean and gruff.
2015-01-10
Bloodbone Axemen
More piggies in the wings... but do they fly?
2015-01-10
Bloodbone Axemen
I chose to do these later because of the bare heads.
2015-01-10
Bloodbone Axemen
Ofcourse, after making all of these I found out that the Bloodbone clan symbol is nothing like that... oh well.
2015-01-10
Bloodbone Axemen
Ranks of steel marching.
2015-01-10
Bloodbone Axemen
Initially I didn't like these, but having painted them they are actually pretty nice.
2015-01-10
Bloodbone Axemen
They do look a bit like they were in barrels, though.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
Now with round killing things!
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
The piggies are coming for you!
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
The obligatory overhead view.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
This was one of my initial favorites in the dwarf line.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
They could be a tad more dynamic, but this was norm for the day.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
And the overhead smashers are here too.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
These guys could use a little more swing.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
Various characters: a piggy standard, two bloodbone leader types.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
Vulture mallets. The poor birdies never got very many figures.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
Ofcourse, they have to have a flamethrower team...
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
Closer look are vulture mallets. It's very obvious that many of the figures were based on the same dollies...
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
I actually kinda like these...
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
More barbeque action!
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
He must have stolen those pads off a marine...
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
Vorwärz!
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
These guys came with raised shield insignia... well, at least I kept the colors the same.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
Unfortunately this guys face had some casting flaws.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
Round killing things coming at you.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
Again, there seems to a size discrepancy between the two poses.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
This guy seems more hunched and compact.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
While his brother is a burly fellow.
2015-02-19
Dark-Star Warriors
Smashy smash smash...
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
Elven archers from the House of Helios. Somehow I find it hard to treat that seriously... if you lived in Finland in the 70's you'll know why.
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
Arrayed to shoot a storm of arrows... except these guys didn't have that special ability, now did they? The orcs had that.
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
The obligatory overhead view.
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
The shooty pose.
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
The leader trusts his sword.
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
The drawing pose. Note how the bow is on the other hand is this pose.
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
More drawing poses.
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
Maybe they all just let loose?
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
Wouldn't want to be in the way of all those arrows...
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
Yes, it's the gems I forgot! I had to add them after varnishing.
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
Ah, those shoulder pads!
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
More shooty action.
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
For some reason these are the elves I'm most fond of.
2015-03-19
Elven Archers
The leader and the two variants of archer. The leaders were always a bit hard to come by.

Obsidian Guard
This is an Elf Obsidian Guard from the House Obsidian Serpent. It's a Chronopia miniature from way back.
2015-03-22
Obsidian Guard
The obligatory overhead view.
2015-03-22
Obsidian Guard
It's kinda sad they only made on pose. It's a bit hard forming a proper unit from these.
2015-03-22
Obsidian Guard
I thought about another color scheme, but my Foundry Wine Red was not co-operating and I went back to plain red.
2015-03-22
Obsidian Guard
Rear quarter view.
2015-03-22
Obsidian Guard
I was too lazy to try my hand at freehanding a symbol so plain red it is.
2015-03-22
Obsidian Guard
Yes, I know obsidian is black but that would have been so boring I chose to paint the snake dark green instead.
2015-03-22
Obsidian Guard
The pose is a bit static, but it looks ok from this angle.
2015-04-19
Legion of the Horny Ones
Here's my remaining dwarves, Legion of the Horny Ones (with a piggy standard guesting).
2015-04-19
Legion of the Horny Ones
The obligatory overhead view.
2015-04-19
Legion of the Horny Ones
Spearmen arrayed. I wasn't a huge fan of these spears, the metal is just too soft.
2015-04-19
Legion of the Horny Ones
I'm not quite sure I have the full set that was supposed to be in the box.
2015-04-19
Legion of the Horny Ones
Another view of the spear-stickers.
2015-04-19
Legion of the Horny Ones
A pig leads goats? Unfortunately, horny standards seem to be a rarity, if they ever were produced.
2015-04-19
Legion of the Horny Ones
Swordsmen arrayed for evening excercises.
2015-04-19
Legion of the Horny Ones
I painted a bunch of these earlier so I tried to match the old color scheme.
2015-04-19
Legion of the Horny Ones
There essentially only two poses of the swordsmen.
2015-04-19
Legion of the Horny Ones
A full battle line.
2015-04-19
Legion of the Horny Ones
The spearmen look a but lonely there.
2015-04-19
Legion of the Horny Ones
The fitment of the spears on the bareheaded models was horrible.

Legion of the Horny Ones
These are the two basic swordsman poses.

Here's a section of Elven Militia from House Crystal Lotus.
2015-05-13
Elven Militia
The obligatory overhead view.
2015-05-13
Elven Militia
I decided to paint these in a blue-on-blue theme for House Crystal Lotus.
2015-05-13
Elven Militia
Here's the militia leader. The helmet is actually a bit orcish in style... you'll see once I get around to painting the orcs.
2015-05-13
Elven Militia
Apart from the rather limited pose selection, I quite liked painting these figures.
2015-05-13
Elven Militia
A gaggle of spearpoints.
2015-05-13
Elven Militia
The metal is rather old school and soft, let's see how those spearshafts hold up in play.

2015-05-20
Crystal Lotus Elves
These are the two Dream Warrior poses.
2015-05-20
Crystal Lotus Elves
They're supposed to be ghostly or something...
2015-05-20
Crystal Lotus Elves
The Crystal Knight comes across really top heavy, and not in a good way.
2015-05-20
Crystal Lotus Elves
The Lotus Eater kit can build different types, but it's really only the tip of the staff that changes. And the joint is a difficult one, I wrapped some twine around it and superglued the whole thing and it's still a bit iffy.
2015-05-20
Crystal Lotus Elves
These dorky back-thingies were very much in vogue back in the day.
2015-05-20
Crystal Lotus Elves
Here they are in all their glory.
2015-05-20
Crystal Lotus Elves
I actually rather like this color scheme.
2015-05-20
Crystal Lotus Elves
I didn't get the gems to stand out quite as well as I'd have liked.
2015-05-20
Crystal Lotus Elves
The Dream Warriors are an experiment in a new priming style.
2015-05-20
Crystal Lotus Elves
I chose the white flower patches intentionally to keep the color scheme faded.
2015-05-20
Crystal Lotus Elves
The Lotus Eater is corporeal, so he gets a little stronger colors.
2015-06-12
Crystal Lotus Elves
Another batch of Dream Warriors done. This time I loceated my leader figure too!
2015-06-12
Crystal Lotus Elves
The obligatory overhead view.
2015-06-12
Crystal Lotus Elves
The leader's pose isn't that different, but due to his ribe style he looks less ethereal than the others.
2015-06-12
Crystal Lotus Elves
I tried to replicate the style of the previous batch as close as possible.
2015-06-12
Crystal Lotus Elves
Still not sure if this was the correct choice, but whatever...
2015-06-12
Crystal Lotus Elves
I would have liked more shine in the gems, but it just didn't pan out.
2015-06-12

Here are the three different poses, the leader and two styles of trooper.

2015-06-17

There's basically two sets of eight figures.
2015-06-17
Crystal Lotus Elves
I think I actually like the champion figure the best.
2015-06-17
Crystal Lotus Elves
Line of swordsmen.
2015-06-17
Crystal Lotus Elves
The basic troopers are a bit flat.
2015-06-17
Crystal Lotus Elves
This time the gems went better, I think.
2015-06-17
Crystal Lotus Elves
The leaders don't quite fit in in my opinion.
2015-06-17
Crystal Lotus Elves
Here's the four poses you get.
2015-06-17
Crystal Lotus Elves
Leader and trooper.

Leading the elfy elves is the command trio, now with an extra banner!
2015-07-28
Elven Axmen
Two choppers and a spare spear on the back. Better come prepared.
2015-07-28
Elven Axmen
This completes my axemen. I still have a bunch of spearmen left, though.
2015-07-28
Elven Axmen
I tried to match the style of the previous set, which I painted several years ago.
2015-07-28
Elven Axmen
Ready to chop anything unelven.
2015-07-28
Elven Axmen
The elven axemen are probably my most favorite Chronopia unit.
2015-07-28
Elven Axmen
Pretty neat line.
2015-07-28
Elven Axmen
Closer look at the commander and the axemaster.
2015-07-28

Nothing quite says pansy long-eared treehugger like a two-handed battle axe!

Elven Spearmen
Helios spearmen arrayed for battle.
2015-08-18
Elven Spearmen

2015-08-18
Elven Spearmen
Again, I tried to replicate the color scheme I did maybe 10 years ago.
2015-08-18
Elven Spearmen
The line will hold.
2015-08-18
Elven Spearmen
Teamwork is essential... but I wonder why they bother lugging those shields around as they are clearly not using them?
2015-08-18
Elven Spearmen
These are pretty good miniatures, but the softness of the metal does show up in the spearshafts here and there.
2015-08-18
Elven Spearmen
Command element. For some reason I had two leaders and one standard bearer.
2015-08-18
Elven Spearmen
Incidentally, the leader figure is reused with the swordsmen, just with a different weapon arm.
2015-08-18
Elven Spearmen
Here's a teamwork example.
2015-08-18
Elven Spearmen
The weapons are really a bit too short for the back rank.
2015-08-18
Elven Spearmen
Better look at the shields.

2015-08-18

I think I forgot to paint the shield handle on these guys. Oh well...

Helios Heroes
The obligatory overhead view.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
There's the Red Lotus Eater, a variant Keepers of the Flame leader and a Warrior of tHe Sun or Golden Mask, I never really got the distinction between those two.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
I chose to go for a golden theme with these.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
I like this one better than the other leader.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
He's got one of those weird gun/lance/flamethrower things.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
A view from the side.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
Rear view. I really don't get this thing with all the crap hanging off their backs...
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
A closer look at the girls.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
I tried a sort of duo-tone gold.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
Coming at you...
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
Keeper leader. Looks very Celtos-ish...
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
Should have given more attention to the fan thing.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
A closer look at her back. You may note a slight red tint in the blade, that was intentional.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
Hmmm... it's a sword and not much else.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
Ok, a little more in focus.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
Even though the pose looks weird, this guy is actually aiming his weapon unlike most miniatures.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
Yup, I wasn't quite sure if that was supposed to be a gem or not, because on the other side it's not. Could be a casting flaw, ofcourse...
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
And giant shoulder pads, ofcourse.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
Here it's missing the gem.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
Lotus Eater. As far as I know, this is th only specialized one they did. All the other types are covered by the multi-choice kit (actually, only the staff symbol is different).
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
Maybe I should have bothered to look up a reference for the flame..
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
The back piece looks odd from this angle.
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
Good thing there's a hole for her hair...
2015-08-22
Helios Heroes
Hmmm... not a very interesting angle.

2015-09-12
Firstborn Knights
I tried to imitate the style I used for the original batch over 10 years ago.
2015-09-12
Firstborn Knights
Only two specials in this lot. Note how the guy with the 2-hander does not have shoulder pads.
2015-09-12
Firstborn Knights
Most of these are the basic swordsmen, which came in two poses like most of Chronopia troops.
2015-09-12
Firstborn Knights
Lining up.
2015-09-12
Firstborn Knights
There's a few macemen there as well. For some reason there's only seven of them, which means I must have misplaced one somewhere.
2015-09-12
Firstborn Knights
Note how most of them don't actually use the shield to protect themselves.
2015-09-12
Firstborn Knights
Personally I don't much like relief shields anymore. I'd rather have plain shields for decals or freehand.
2015-09-12
Firstborn Knights
The original game artwork had a lot of checkerings, but I couldn't do it back then and I still can't do it...
2015-09-12
Firstborn Knights
There's two unique shield designs.

2015-09-12
Firstborn Knights
A closer look at the standard bearer and the two-hander.
2015-09-12
Firstborn Knights
I quite like the macemen. Unfortunately they were a bit crap troops under the original rules.

Firstborn Knights
Swordsmen back to back.

2015-10-10
Iron Guard
As usual, there's just two poses for the basic trooper.
2015-10-10
Iron Guard
The gauntlets are a bit weird, but what can you do...
2015-10-10
Iron Guard
That's the leader and a strange one-off pose that kinda looks like one of the trooper poses but is slightly different.
2015-10-10
Iron Guard
Another leader and the standard bearer.

2015-10-19
Dragonrider
I really painted this to test out my stencils.
2015-10-19
Dragonrider
I left out some parts I didn't think fit the model very well.
2015-10-19
Dragonrider
The pose is actually pretty nice while still being reasonably stable.
2015-10-19
Dragonrider
The color scheme is pretty darn simple.
2015-10-19
Dragonrider
The thickness of the wings is evident from this angle.

2015-10-19
Dragonrider
Ok, here's the pattern I created with the HS stencils. For a first attempt it's pretty ok.
2015-10-19

I couldn't get the stencil close enough to the body, so I faded out the pattern.
2015-10-19
Dragonrider
View from the other side.
2015-10-19
Dragonrider
It would have been easier to paint the rider separately, but unfortunately he was partly molded into the dragon's body.
2015-10-19
Dragonrider
The shield is pretty uninspired. I couldn't freehand the snake motif so I just stuck this on there.
2015-10-19
Dragonrider
Wing detail.
2015-10-19
Dragonrider
The dragon's face is pretty interesting.
2015-11-17
Firstborn Desert Crusaders
Here they are in all their glory.
2015-11-17
Firstborn Desert Crusaders
The leaders never wear helmets.
2015-11-17
Firstborn Desert Crusaders
Ok, this is actually an archer leader. Not quite as bad as I thought, but still...
2015-11-17

2015-11-17
Firstborn Desert Crusaders
A peek at the morale section.
2015-11-17
Firstborn Desert Crusaders
Another shot of the lone archer leader. Too bad the archer figures were quite frankly horrible.
2015-11-17
Black Sisters
The sisters are doing it for themselves...
2015-11-17
Black Sisters
Line up. Unfortunately the pose selection is again pretty poor.
2015-11-17
Black Sisters
I gave them all different hair color to differentiate them a bit.
2015-11-17
Black Sisters
Somehow these remind me of 80's glam rock bands...
2015-11-17
Black Sisters
Why do these gals always have huge swords?
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
Here they are. I painted all of them in one go so I don't have to wonder what colors I used last time.
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
The obligatory overhead view.
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
The poses are pretty monotonous again.
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
I like the oriental vibe these guys give.
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
The color scheme is straight from the box, didn't try anything fancy with it.
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
It's actually pretty hard to tell the two-handed sword guy apart from the regular one, the poses are so similar.
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
Row upon row of orcy goodness!
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
Maybe it would have looked better painted, but I went with the brass look instead.
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
The command section.
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
It's interesting how we are still stuck on this leader - standard bearer - champion scheme. Well, at least there's no musician here.
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
The pointing ones are always the leaders.
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
The two regular poses.
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
Even these are very similar.
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
As always, more rank and file poses would have been nice.
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
Perhaps I should have stuck with the ochre on the head cloth too?
2015-12-29
Blackblood Orc Swordsmen
Another view of the lovelies.

Elven Golems
More golem power for the pansies!
2016-02-04

2016-02-04
Elven Golems
I quite like these hulking pieces of metal, even though the pose is pretty static.
2016-02-04
Elven Golems
These are actually pretty simple to paint.
2016-02-04
Elven Golems
As you can summon and control one at a time, ofcourse I needed three more...

2016-03-06
Blackblood Orc Archers
I pretty much copied the color theme straight off the box art.
2016-03-06
Blackblood Orc Archers
This batch was maybe a little too large, but now they're done.
2016-03-06
Blackblood Orc Archers
Alchemist and troop leader.
2016-03-06
Blackblood Orc Archers
Showing the backs. I went with the terracotta color because it's much better than the red.
2016-03-06
Blackblood Orc Archers
The two archer poses. The lower torsos are almost identical.
2016-03-06
Blackblood Orc Archers
archers from the back. Note how the shoulder pad changes with the pose.
2016-03-25
Blackblood Orc Assault Warriors
Orc assault warriors lined up. These were the elite orcs.
2016-03-25
Blackblood Orc Assault Warriors
The obligatory overhead view.
2016-03-25
Dark Tusk Totem Handler
And he's supposed to keep the other guy in check?
2016-03-25
Dark Tusk Totem Handler
Not a whole lot of surface to paint on these.
2016-03-25
Dark Tusk Totem Handler
There ws pretty substantial lead rot on this one.
2016-03-25
Dark Tusk Totem Handler
The goading spear is a bit rough due to the rot.
2016-03-25
Dark Tusk Totem Handler
The sword also suffered.
2016-03-25
Blackblood Orc Assault Warriors
Well, it's a thin line alright.
2016-03-25
Blackblood Orc Assault Warriors
There are two leaders and two standard bearers. Chronopia has standards for ridiculously small units.
2016-03-25
Blackblood Orc Assault Warriors
But the standards do look good.
2016-03-25
Blackblood Orc Assault Warriors
As usual, there's a dearth of poses.
2016-03-25
Blackblood Orc Assault Warriors
It's been a while since I last did the bare metal blades.
2016-03-25
Blackblood Orc Assault Warriors
They can shoot too! Though the bows are pretty much hidden.
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
The totem and the handler.
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
The obligatory overhead view.
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
The big guy was really fun to paint and actually quite fast too.
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
I was initially a little hesitant to do 3-color on this scale, but it worked pretty well in the end.
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
The pose is so hunched over one wonders why it doesn't fall over.
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
Fist detail.
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
Better view on the arm muscles.
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
It's actually pretty easy to paint because the muscles are so super well defined and even the small details aren't actually that small.
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
I did six stages with the fur, probably overdoing it.
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
For some reason the left hand protection is different.
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
It was actually a little bit difficult to paint some things on the underside due to the huge base. Maybe I should have added that later...
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
I actually like this arm better.
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
The breast muscles are interesting to say the least. It also appears to have four nipples.
2016-03-28
Dark Tusk Totem
I don't really get what the tusk warmers are supposed to be.
2016-04-27
Blackblood Goblin Swordmasters
These goblins are out for blood -- black blood!
2016-04-27
Blackblood Goblin Swordmasters
The obligatory overhead view.
2016-04-27
Blackblood Goblin Swordmasters
These are getting a little smaller than I'd really like to paint. On the plus side, these were actually cheaper then the rest of the Chronopia figures, they came six to a blister when the others wee four.
2016-04-27
Blackblood Goblin Swordmasters
The leader and his boys.
2016-04-27
Blackblood Goblin Swordmasters
A forest of sword blades.
2016-04-27
Blackblood Goblin Swordmasters
I guess they would tip over in any other pose...
2016-04-27
Blackblood Goblin Swordmasters
I should have added some lens flare here...
2016-04-27
Blackblood Goblin Swordmasters
All ranked up and ready.
2016-04-27
Blackblood Goblin Swordmasters
Still, only two poses for the rank and file and even they are a bit samey...
2016-04-27
Blackblood Goblin Swordmasters
A view from back.
2016-04-27
Blackblood Goblin Swordmasters
Now, this is not the typical view of these brave little goblins. It just took the shot to better show the cloaks.
2016-04-27
Blackblood Goblin Swordmasters
The light blue cloaks actually work pretty well.
2016-04-27
Blackblood Goblin Swordmasters
Onwards, brave gobbos!
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Out and about.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
I should probably pull the weeds from the desert.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Off to the sunset we go!
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
These guys were smart enough to bring their tents with them.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Taking pics outdoors is not automatically a good idea.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
This desert is ours.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Hmmm... probably should have brought more tents...
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Here they are out in the wild.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
The variety is pretty pooor.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Budget cuts mean there's no standard bearer, the leader must handle flag duties as well.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Side view.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
I'm not really sure why they went with bucklers on these, but they're ok.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Off we go...
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
View from the back.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
The more I look at it, the less I like the sashimono. Too bad I suck at freehand.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
The sun is getting too low, the figures cast too much shadow on each other.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Orderly advancement.
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
There's still miles to go...
2016-05-31
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Are we there yet?
2016-06-01
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Assembled to guard any caravans they happen to meet in the desert.
2016-06-01
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Fearless leader al-Khersant leads his troops.
2016-06-01
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
The obligatory overhead view.
2016-06-01
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
The figure selection is very limited, only one leader pose and two troopers.
2016-06-01
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Arrayed in neat lines. Well, almost anyway.
2016-06-01
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
I went with a slightly different scheme this time.
2016-06-01
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Here are the three different figure variants.
2016-06-01
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
The troopers are pretty good, but I'm not really fond of the leader pose.
2016-06-01
Blackblood Orc Caravan Guards
Nasty hook sabers.
2016-09-15
Blackblood Ogres
The ogre heavy infantry march on!
2016-09-15
Blackblood Ogres
The obligatory overhead view.
2016-09-15
Blackblood Ogres
These were sold singly, basically three different kits.
2016-09-15
Blackblood Ogres
Fortunately there were some assembly options.
2016-09-15
Blackblood Ogres
You'll be hard pressed to find hefty pieces of metal like these anymore.
2016-09-15
Blackblood Ogres
It's sabers every which way.
2016-09-15
Blackblood Ogres
These are the three basic models. The one in the middle is fixed pose, others have one or two arms poseable.
2016-09-15
Blackblood Ogres
Side view of the models.
2016-09-15
Blackblood Ogres
Back view.
2016-09-15
Blackblood Ogres
They can be pretty dynamic, which was not always the case with models from this era.
2016-09-15
Blackblood Ogres
Pretty intricate designs on the shields.
2016-09-15
Blackblood Ogres
But you just gotta have giant shoulder pads, don't you?
2016-09-15
Blackblood Ogres
Plus a few spiky bits.
2017-05-09
Orc Kutara Lancers
Lancers assemble!
2017-05-09
Orc Kutara Lancers
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-05-09
Orc Kutara Lancers
They're all the same pose ofcourse.
2017-05-09
Orc Kutara Lancers
Kutaras are pretty mean looking beasts.
2017-05-09
Orc Kutara Lancers
The orcs are actually a wee bit skinnier than their footsoldier brethren.
2017-05-09
Orc Kutara Lancers
Too large to fit on normal cavalry bases.
2017-05-09
Orc Kutara Lancers
Some of these had really nasty casting flaws.
2017-05-09
Orc Kutara Lancers
I think the color scheme actually works pretty good here.
2017-05-09
Orc Kutara Lancers
I wish there was even one more pose...
2017-05-09
Orc Kutara Lancers
With a heavy blade like that, the lances are going to be a handful to manage...
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
Two monsters out and about.
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
The obligatory overhead view!
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
I omitted the tusks because I thought they looked a bit silly and also because I didn't feel like pinning them...
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
I painted the metal parts in different colors to tell them apart.
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
Headbutt time!
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
I tried shading with an airbrush but I went with traditional wash and drybrush after all.
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
The skin texture is pretty good, so I decided against 3-coloring this.
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
It's a metal-resin hybrid. Those were all the rage in the 90's.
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
A little bit of coloring.
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
Is it actually a hexaped, or a really badass centaur?
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
Too bad the pose was pretty much fixed. I guess they never thought anyone would buy multiples of these.
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
Closeup on the shoulder detail.
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
There's various design features to hide the seams.
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
Like peas in a pod.
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
What I like most about this is that it's basically a full version of the Tormented.
2017-08-28
Hideous Monsters
Dental closeup.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
Goblin mammoth and two chariots.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
The chariots are pretty oversized for the riders, actually.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
The mammoth thing is small when you place it next to anything, really.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
I added some paper flags just to tell the chariots apart.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
The ripper beasts look interesting.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
Honestly, this looks like it should have had an orc riding it.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
The light blue cloak again.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
The dot pattern on the back was fun.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
The head exoskeleton is weird.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
Even the mammoth is some sort of bird hybrid. Or turtle maybe?
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
The crew is just superglued on. There were no pins or anything.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
This was suffering from mild lead rot by the time I got to it.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
From this angle it looks somewhat impressive.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
Rear view.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
Lead rot had destroyed a fair bit of the fur texture.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
Hmmm... handy stone for boarding.
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
Ride on...
2017-10-09
Mammoth and Chariots
Even on a mammoth he's pointing the spear up...
2017-10-23
Swamp Goblins
Goblin blowpipes assemble.
2017-10-23
Swamp Goblins
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-10-23
Swamp Goblins
I put loads of stuff on the bases.
2017-10-23
Swamp Goblins
The leader encourages his goblins.
2017-10-23
Swamp Goblins
The pose selection is really limited.
2017-10-23
Swamp Goblins
These are actually pretty tiny.
2017-10-23
Swamp Goblins
I need to buy more bushes...
2017-10-23
Swamp Goblins
Not sure if I'll do the spearmen with the same scheme or not...
2017-10-23
Swamp Goblins
Do I need more of these...
2017-10-26
Ophidian
This is the Stygian Ophidian, which is really just a fancy word for a snake.
2017-10-26
Ophidian
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-10-26
Ophidian
The pose is weirdly familiar, but I can't recall where I've seen it.
2017-10-26
Ophidian
Coming at you!
2017-10-26
Ophidian
I did this mostly with drybrushing.
2017-10-26
Ophidian
Hmm... the skybox is bugging out.
2017-10-26
Ophidian
Pretty good angle.
2017-10-26
Ophidian
Majestic view.
2017-10-26
Ophidian
The patterning is easier to do than it looks.
2017-10-26
Ophidian
Maybe I should have patterned the entire wing?
2017-10-26
Ophidian
Swooping in.
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
I found another one of these!
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
The obligatory overhead view!
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
This one didn't have quite as bad lead rot but the resin was miscast.
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
The mushroom is a cheap decoration trinket I bought ages ago.
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
Maybe I should have gone for more contrast on the leather parts.
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
For some reason this handler also has blue pants.
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
The muscle definition is really good.
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
This time I drybrushed the fur in just three stages. You really can't tell the difference.
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
Unfortunately, these really can't be posed at all. Which is okay if you have only one of them, but...
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
I don't know what it is with the horns. Why do they have to stick them everywhere? Wouldn't a razorback theme have worked?
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
Closeup on the face.
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
Gave a little pink for the snout there.
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
Tusk-warmers for those cold nights.
2017-11-01
Dark Tusk Totem
Impressive angle.
2017-11-04
Swamp Goblin Spearmen
Swamp goblin spearmen.
2017-11-04
Swamp Goblin Spearmen
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-11-04
Swamp Goblin Spearmen
Two poses like usual.
2017-11-04
Swamp Goblin Spearmen
Looks pointy to me.
2017-11-04
Swamp Goblin Spearmen
Ready to receive the charge.
2017-11-04
Swamp Goblin Spearmen
Looking colorful.
2017-11-04
Swamp Goblin Spearmen
I wonder if I should have multibased these.
2017-11-04
Swamp Goblin Spearmen
The uniform ranks feel somehow... ungobliny?
2017-11-04
Swamp Goblin Spearmen
I get this feeling I should make a proper army out of these.
2017-11-04
Swamp Goblin Spearmen
But where to get some giant bugs for them?
2017-11-04
Swamp Goblin Spearmen
Actually, I do have some giant bugs...
2017-11-04
Swamp Goblin Spearmen
Neatly ranked up.
2017-11-07
Swamp Goblin Mantis Guard
The Mantis Guard are here!
2017-11-07
Swamp Goblin Mantis Guard
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-11-07
Swamp Goblin Mantis Guard
The are actually all from blisters.
2017-11-07
Swamp Goblin Mantis Guard
The standard is pretty nice.
2017-11-07
Swamp Goblin Mantis Guard
Adding some beat to the mix.
2017-11-07
Swamp Goblin Mantis Guard
Command trio.
2017-11-07
Swamp Goblin Mantis Guard
I was finally getting the hang of dying these and then I ran out.
2017-11-07
Swamp Goblin Mantis Guard
I intentionally avoided metal tones.
2017-11-07
Swamp Goblin Mantis Guard
Basing these took a real toll on my shrubberies.
2017-11-07
Swamp Goblin Mantis Guard
Ironically, the standard has tons of metal.
2017-11-07
Swamp Goblin Mantis Guard
It's a wee bit small for a unit, really. All the other goblins were six to a blister while these were four.
2017-11-07
Swamp Goblin Mantis Guard
I really must get the shaman figure now.
2017-11-10
Sisters of Tiamat
The sisters are up and about.
2017-11-10
Sisters of Tiamat
The obligatory ovewrhead view.
2017-11-10
Sisters of Tiamat
I did this pretty much the same way I did the previous one... many many years ago.
2017-11-10
Sisters of Tiamat
The heads are apparently a random selection. Box art shows three with mouth open but I only got two.
2017-11-10
Sisters of Tiamat
I probably should have added some patterns to the belly area.
2017-11-10
Sisters of Tiamat
The back patterns are a new thing.
2017-11-10
Sisters of Tiamat
The dark blue carapce is perhaps a bit too dark.
2017-11-10
Sisters of Tiamat
There was some gap filling involved.
2017-11-10
Sisters of Tiamat
Unfortunately the necks aren't really poseable.
2017-11-10
Sisters of Tiamat
I really should have cut off the tail and made it emerge from a hole.
2017-11-10
Sisters of Tiamat
All those teeth...
2017-11-12
Blackblood Troll
Beats an Internet troll any day of the week.
2017-11-12
Blackblood Troll
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-11-12
Blackblood Troll
Ready to dice and slice.
2017-11-12
Blackblood Troll
I really lovew this guy, It's really a shame they didn't make more trolls.
2017-11-12
Blackblood Troll
The net fits better on the larger base. I probably should rebase my old one as well.
2017-11-12
Blackblood Troll
I tried Reikland Fleshshade with the armor. It really gives a warmer tone than Agrax Earthshade.
2017-11-12
Blackblood Troll
Really nice muscle definition.
2017-11-12
Blackblood Troll
I left the blades mostly black for contrast.
2017-11-12
Blackblood Troll
The palette is really limited actually.
2017-11-19
Firstborn Knights
Three knights on horseback and an Enlightened, sort of half-wizard, half axe-ninja.
2017-11-19
Firstborn Knights
The obligatory ovewrhead.
2017-11-19
Firstborn Knights
I hit them with my axe.
2017-11-19
Firstborn Knights
I chopped off the flag poles from the others. Honestly, roughly 1mm thick lead is not the best material for a long thin pole.
2017-11-19
Firstborn Knights
Ofcourse, there's only one pose.
2017-11-19
Firstborn Knights
They look pretty imposing. And they're really hefty pieces of lead.
2017-11-19
Firstborn Knights
Neat lineup.
2017-11-19
Firstborn Knights
I should have painted the banner before glueing it onto the pole.
2017-11-19
Firstborn Knights
They share a lot of elements with the Iron Guard, so I used the same color theme.
2017-11-19
Firstborn Knights
Rear view.
2017-11-19
Firstborn Knights
And the cog icons, ofcourse.
2017-11-19
Firstborn Knights
Marching away.
2017-11-19
Firstborn Knights
Not a very thundering charge.
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
Sons of Kronos... totally not from Celtos.
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
These are all early Kev Smith sculpt -- and really nice ones.
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
I like the horn guy.
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
Some of the poses are a bit flat due to technical limitations. They are mostly one-part models.
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
Closer look at the characters.
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
Command elements.
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
Wild barbarian horde approaches.
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
I didn't do tartan on them...
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
More trooper models would have been nice, again...
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
It's the White Wolf! Some of the models were damaged requiring me to do some impromptu conversions.
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
Ready to take off...
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
By the power of magnetism I shall fly!
2017-11-28
Sons of Kronos
I need a bigger background picture.
2017-12-10
Sons of Kronos Blade Maidens
The Blade Maidens are here.
2017-12-10
Sons of Kronos Blade Maidens
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-12-10
Sons of Kronos Blade Maidens
Cloth is really scarce up north.
2017-12-10
Sons of Kronos Blade Maidens
A bit better pose variety than normal.
2017-12-10
Sons of Kronos Blade Maidens
I used to hate doing skin tones but now I quite like it.
2017-12-10
Sons of Kronos Blade Maidens
The swords are maybe a bit more manageable size than with the Black Sisters.
2017-12-10
Sons of Kronos Blade Maidens
I varied the hair color a bit, but failed to produce a good redhead.
2017-12-10
Sons of Kronos Blade Maidens
The poses are nice. Not too stiff but not overly dynamic either.
2017-12-10
Sons of Kronos Blade Maidens
The outfit is a bit weird in places, though.
2017-12-10
Sons of Kronos Blade Maidens
Maybe I should have put more effort into the pelts.
2017-12-14
Kronos Chariots
Charging across the field! Good thing I had these bases stockpiled away.
2017-12-14
Kronos Chariots
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-12-14
Kronos Chariots
I left out the cloaks, they felt dumb.
2017-12-14
Kronos Chariots
The chariots have slightly different coloring to tell them apart.
2017-12-14
Kronos Chariots
Yes, I still refuse to do tartan.
2017-12-14
Kronos Chariots
The contact point for the chariots is a little bit small, hopefully they hold up.
2017-12-14
Kronos Chariots
Another flamboyant pose.
2017-12-14
Kronos Chariots
The other dude looks almost the same. These kits have zero options.
2017-12-14
Kronos Chariots
The gildwork wasn't too difficult to paint.

Kronos Chariots
The javelin quivers are in contrasting color.
2017-12-14
Kronos Chariots
Always forward!
2017-12-18
Devout
Dark Eyes, Cursed and the Stalker!
2017-12-18
Devout
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-12-18
Devout
The axe dudes are Cursed, somehow I guess.
2017-12-18
Devout
The guys with swords are Dark Eyes. Again, I really don't know how they got the name but I'm going to use them as termitors.
2017-12-18
Devout
They are an interesting bunch after all.
2017-12-18
Devout
Separate arms give some of the poses some variance.
2017-12-18
Devout
These used to be quite massive back in the day.
2017-12-18
Devout
And that's the Stalker in the middle. He came in an expansion of some sort.
2017-12-18
Devout
There's a small warband right there.
2017-12-18
Devout
I intentionally steered away from the traditional red and black of bad guys.
2017-12-18
Devout
The color scheme is pretty cold, with just a little red as spot color and a hint of gold details.
2017-12-18
Devout
They are also less armored than you might assume at first.
2017-12-22
Devout Swordsmen
Devout swordsmen assemble.
2017-12-22
Devout Swordsmen
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-12-22
Devout Swordsmen
The pose variety is een more limited than usual.
2017-12-22
Devout Swordsmen
The two basic swordsman poses really differ only with the sword arm.
2017-12-22
Devout Swordsmen
It's a hedge of blades.,
2017-12-22
Devout Swordsmen
Interestingly these guys have no skulls, severed heads or other bad guys tropes. They could just as well be inquisitorial shock troops or something.
2017-12-22
Devout Swordsmen
Yes, that gold filigree was really fun to paint...
2017-12-22
Devout Swordsmen
I gave them light blue cloaks to get away from the classic bad guy color schemes.
2017-12-22
Devout Swordsmen
The helmet has a vague skull mask quality to it. With different colors it could be played up.
2017-12-22
Devout Swordsmen
The swords are a bit much, to be honest.
2017-12-27
Devout Damned
It's a duo of the Damned. I also have a third one I painted many many years ago.
2017-12-27
Devout Damned
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-12-27
Devout Damned
I decided to try to learn the edge highlight style.
2017-12-27
Devout Damned
These are done in a mix of GW and Foundry paints. I also noticed I really need a good brass color.
2017-12-27
Devout Damned
And zero variance in poses, ofcourse.
2017-12-27
Devout Damned
Rather nice muscle definition.
2017-12-27
Devout Damned
They fit on 60mm round bases nicely.
2017-12-27
Devout Damned
Maybe the pattern could have been more prominent.
2017-12-27
Devout Damned
Coming at you!
2017-12-27
Devout Damned
The flails have to be glued to the base to survive handling.
2017-12-29
Devout Tormented
Tormented lineup.
2017-12-29
Devout Tormented
The obligatory overhead view.
2017-12-29
Devout Tormented
They have slightly different vegetation to tell them apart.
2017-12-29
Devout Tormented
I quite like these big guys.
2017-12-29
Devout Tormented
We've had better days...
2017-12-29
Devout Tormented
I finally got to use my blood effects paint.
2017-12-29
Devout Tormented
I went more naturalistic than the original color scheme.
2017-12-29
Devout Tormented
And great muscle definition again.
2017-12-29
Devout Tormented
The horny guys advance.
2017-12-29
Devout Tormented
A few options wouldn't have hurt, but coming up with another pose is actually not that easy.
2019-12-04
Firstborn Archers
Archers and a couple of Devout heroes.
2019-12-04
Firstborn Archers
These are actually not from my original Chronopia stash but rather from a more recent resupply.
2019-12-04
Firstborn Archers
Color balance is off with these lights...
2019-12-04
Firstborn Archers
The obligatory overhead lighting.
2019-12-04
Firstborn Archers
Group shot with slightly better lighting.
2019-12-04
Firstborn Archers
Another obligatory overhead view.
2019-12-04
Firstborn Archers
A couple of Devaout characters, a Necromancer and a Warped Lord.
2019-12-04
Firstborn Archers
I just love doing studded armor...
2019-12-04
Firstborn Archers
I tried to paint them in a similar style to the previous ones.
2019-12-04
Firstborn Archers
I actually like how the black bows turned out.
2019-12-09
Viridian Lords
Viridian Lords. Too bad they didn't make more of these.
2019-12-09
Viridian Lords
I still have issues with color balance.
2019-12-09
Viridian Lords
The obligatory overhead view.
2019-12-09
Viridian Lords
I did the skin in bone color to make them look pale. Not quite satisfied with the result.
2019-12-09
Viridian Lords
Constrast paint is used for some effects.
2019-12-09
Viridian Lords
These are actually surprisingly simple models.
2019-12-09
Viridian Lords
Leafy capes.
2019-12-09
Viridian Lords
Might overhand swing coming up!
2019-12-09
Viridian Lords
These are part of the Sons of Kronos faction.
