Celts
By sticking lots of minis in the same frame, at least some of them are in focus...
Celts
More slingers to the fray.
Medusa
This is a Reaper model. This shot came out rather fine, actually.
Medusa
Ok, this wasn't so good. Apparently the autofocus had a really hard time with the snakelike body.
Medusa
The gap between upper and lower body is too noticeable. I guess I should learn to use green stuff...
Skeletons
I've had these skeleton archers in my B-pile for a long time. As part of a desk clearance project I dug them up.
Skeletons
I think these are Alternative Armies models, but I could be mistaken. It was fun painting skeletons for a change. Maybe I should do my 100 Discount Hobby skellies next...
Skeletons
These are just basic undercoat - heavy drybrush - wash.
Naked skeletons are great for beginners because it's really easy to get them looking good, and they have a lots of good surface area to practice shading and highlighting basics on.
Skeletons
I just wanted these out of the way, so I gave them all very basic, drab earthtone clothes. I guess most clothes would look that way after a few years six feet under anyway...
Skeletons
This one actually remembered to bring his arrows.
Medusa
More medusa shots, this time in my studio. For some reason, this is the only shot where her face is in focus.
Medusa
I tried to get fancy with the pelt, but it's not too good.
Medusa
On the other hand, the yellow stripes came out ok.
Medusa
For some reason, the camera just kept focusing on the pattern on her back.
Medusa
I tried the Foundry 3-step shading on the rattle, but I guess I didn't get the colors right - the two lightest tones don't have enough contrast.
Medusa
The base is made from hardboard. I was trying out my new circle cutting drill thingie (close relation to round killing thing).
Medusa
For once the overhead view is useful. This is NOT the way I intended the pattern to come out... but I managed to salvage it.
Celts
The slingers are back in too.
Celts
These are pretty much the same as the previous bunch of celtic slingers.
Celts
Hmmm... someone's trying to slip away...
Celts
The poses are a bit limited, but still better than some manufacturers.
Celts
The obligatory overhead view.
Celts
So that's 18 slingers ready for action. Now for warriors...
Meat Processing Plant 5
You can make terrain items out of anything. Ok, sticking to non-perishables is a good idea.
Meat Processing Plant 5
I was supposed to add detailing to these, but I was too bored. Also, keeping them simple keeps them somewhat scaleless. These are equally ok with 28mm skirmish as microarmor.
Meat Processing Plant 5
And the overhead view. The good thing about these boxes was that they had virtually no molded-on text or symbols. A quick whiff or sandpaper was enough.
Cobalt-1
I got these from a clearance sale rather cheap. They are actually really nice and I love the retro helmets. Shame that the metal is some bitchy hard and brittle non-lead alloy.
Cobalt-1
These were rather fun to do (apart from the cleaning). I remembered when I was doing the original beaky marines some 15 years ago. I think it's nice that these are not too cluttered.
Cobalt-1
The helmet is a bit tricky to cut out without leaving a white edge. It's also irritatingly easy to get fingerprints on the domes.
Cobalt-1
Most of these guys are bald. Maybe it's the cosmic rays...
Cobalt-1
Where would a marine go without his trusty sword? Them gun-thingies, they're not dependable, no sirree.
Cobalt-1
And the obligatory overhead view.
Medusa
I tried to take a few photos outside, something I haven't done in years. Unfortunately, the sun was already really low and it was virtually impossible to see anything in the viewfinder. Alas, most of these are out of focus.
Celts
More celtic slingers, this time venturing outside. I was supposed to paint stripes on these guys, but I forgot.
Celts
Aargh! I'm out of focus! The white stuff on the background is not the sky, it's a pile of snow.
