Renegade Legion: Centurion
Closer view of the grav tanks.
2004-06-02
Renegade Legion: Centurion
And the other half.
2004-06-02
Renegade Legion: Centurion
Tiger stripes, ofcourse.
2004-06-02
Renegade Legion: Centurion
The green ones in the back row are Liberator medium tanks while the red ones in the middle are medium APCs, plus a light tank in the front.
2004-06-02
Renegade Legion: Centurion
TOG mediums were called Romulus and Remus, but I forget which was which.
2004-06-02
Renegade Legion: Centurion
Light tanks. These colors are really boring, but the crappy models didn't really warrant much painting effort.
2004-06-02
Epic Eldar
Eldar force. I think this is actually the entire Eldar complement in the 2nd edition starter box.
2004-06-02
Epic Eldar
This is the real Falcon! There's a green-on-green camo there actually, but it's a bit too subtle.
2004-06-02
Epic Eldar
And more tiger stripes.
2004-06-02
Epic Eldar
Eldar infantry. If you zoom real close, you might see some tiger stripes.
2004-06-02
Blue Dragon
This was one of the first figures I bought, ever. This is the second paintjob he has - you don't want to see what he used to look like...
2004-06-02
Epic Robots
These are actually not GW. The robots are from Heroics and Ros while the laser towers came with an AT-AT model.
2004-06-02
Epic Robots
There were two types of robots: Heavy and light. These are the light ones.
2004-06-02
Epic Robots
And here's a glimpse of the heavy ones.
2004-06-02
Epic Laser Towers
Originally intended to be Hoth-white, I painted them black instead.
2004-06-02
Epic Orks
For some reason, I really hated the ork miniatures. I never painted any of the infantry and these are the only battlewagons I actually finished.
2004-06-02
Epic Orks
Closeup on the stupid skull thing.
2004-06-02
Epic Orks
Well, at least these were easy to paint...
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
All my painted epic scale space marines in their glory.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Support section containing various conversions I did after I got bored with painting the basic models.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
This conversion is inspired by the Hetzer tank hunter. I've simply drilled a hole and glued one of the epic flag poles as a barrel. Note how the disc at the end of the pole is cut in half to simulate a muzzle brake.
2004-06-02
Blue Dragon
And the wings. There was some cracking in the wing joints I had to strengthen with glue.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Whirlwinds converted using missile pods from Dark Future.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
AA model converted using lascannons from a Land Raider.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Well, well, finally some use for the battlewagons - their turrets fit the Rhino perfectly.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Closeup of the AA model.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Land Raider Tank Hunters. Streamlined by chopping off the lascannons, serious firepower added by gluing a 28mm lasgun. Or maybe they are heavy support artillery...
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Closeup on the Land Raider conversion.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Side view of the heavy gun 'raider.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Purple Hearts. For some reason there's much less infantry than for the black guys.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Closeup on Purple Hearts Rhinos.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Purple Hearts Land Raiders.
2004-06-02
Rögon the Balrog Dragon
This a Ral Partha figure. Rather nice, even though it really belongs on a larger base.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Purple Hearts Whirlwinds.

2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Purple Hearts Marines.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
The Black Guys. I never really thought about these guys, I just painted them black because I needed two distinct forces and black was faster to paint. Maybe that's why they have more infantry.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Closeup on the Rhinos. If you look carefully, you might catch a hint of dark green highlighting. Maybe they are Salamanders after all?
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine

2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
Command/AA Rhino.
2004-06-02
Epic Space Marine
And the marines themselves.
2004-06-02
Rögon the Balrog Dragon
I could have used a more varied color scheme. The mane is done in orange, but the effect is too subtle to really notice...
2004-06-02
Rögon the Balrog Dragon
From above, demonstrating the dynamic snake-like pose.
2004-06-02
Rögon the Balrog Dragon
And the back. The weapons are a bit dull being just black and all that.
2004-06-02
Undead Giant
This is an old Grenadier model. Much better than the new GW Tomb Giant, if I may say so.
2004-06-02
Undead Giant
The staff could use more color, though.
2004-06-02
Undead Giant
Back view. Very simple to paint, really. White base, brown wash for the bandages and rotting flesh for the exposed bits.
2004-06-02
Undead Dino
Back when Jurassic Park came out dino-toys were all the rage. I bought one of those 'then and now' sets, with a live dino and a skeleton. This is made from the skeleton, I never used the live one.
2004-06-02
Black Dragon
This is an old Grendel figure. It's very dusty, as you can see.
2004-06-02
Undead Dino
The howdah uses a film roll tube as basis and the bones are made from sprue. I melted the ends with a candle.
2004-06-02
Undead Dino
The rider is a bog standard Citadel plastic skeleton.
2004-06-02
Undead Dino
I think she's Ral Partha, but I'm not quite sure.
2004-06-02
Undead Dino Sorceress
And here's a better look at the gal.
2004-06-02
Undead Dino Sorceress
Sorceress from the back.
2004-06-02
Lord of Change
This is the classic Lord of Change model from GW. I bought and painted it when it was new.
2004-06-02
Lord of Change
I did this for a fantasy project that never got this far... the story of my life.
2004-06-02
Lord of Change
Wings from the back. Though it's not perfect, I'm actually rather satisfied with this.
2004-06-02
Lord of Change
Closeup on the face. I could have used a contrasting brim on the loincloth.
2004-06-02
Robot
Specialised siege robot from early days of 40K. It's missing the weapon on the back, because I converted this as a part of a fantasy battle project... that never got anywhere, as you might have guessed.
2004-06-02
Black Dragon
It's actually a rather nice figure, all-resin, that would really deserve a brighter color scheme.
2004-06-02
Robot
Closeup on the head area. The black color scheme is a bit boring...
2004-06-02
Robot
And here's the back. The shield covers the back weapon installation point.
2004-06-02
Robot
Another view of the robot.
2004-06-02
Oldies
Standard bearer for my very own chapter if space marines: The Purple Hearts. Yup, that's a LEGO helmet on the flagpole.
2004-06-02
Oldies
The heavy bolter is (badly) converted from a regular bolter using various bits and pieces.
2004-06-02
Oldies
And that's a genuine bullet hole. After the flag was finished, in a flash of brilliance I shot it with an airgun. Most of the paint flaked off from the impact and I had to repaint the damn thing all over again...
2004-06-02
Oldies
And THIS is a venerable dreadnought. Don't buy into that current stuff that looks like overgrown pigs, this is the real thing: Contemptor class dreadnought 'Eddy'. I think.
2004-06-02
Oldies
Closeup on the missile launcher arm.
2004-06-02
Oldies
For some reason, I was really into writing slogans on miniatures at this time. I guess it seemed like a display of painting prowess to be able to paint legible text in this scale.
2004-06-02
Oldies
Man I feel old. Did I really think up all those stupid slogans?
2004-06-02
Black Dragon
Closeup on the head.
2004-06-02
Oldies
Closeup on slogans.
2004-06-02
Oldies
And ofcourse it had to have eyes and teeth.

Adeptus Titanicus
Remember Adeptus Titanicus? That was GW's attempt to grab a piece of the giant robot market. Not so successful, but it gave birth to Space Marine, aka 40K Epic.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
This is a plastic Warlord titan from the original game box. The real thing, you know.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
In brilliant imperial purple, equipped with a defense laser, two plasma cannons and a powerfist for close up action.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
In Space Marine 2nd edition they changed all the names of the weapons. Heretics! I want my Marco Cannon!
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Adeptus Titanicus was really the first game where Horus Heresy was brought to limelight. Largely because of production economics, I guess. GW could only afford to do one set of plastics, so they had to come up with an excuse why samey-looking guys are fighting each other.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
These are metal miniatures, a Reaver and two Warhounds. My Reaver came with the stupid back spike, so I replaced it with a plastic missile launcher.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Two more plastic Warlords. There were six in the box.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Three more plastic Warlord titans from the game box.
2004-06-02
Black Dragon
Sideview. The wings are a bit thick, though.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Metal Warhound up close. You can see the metal epic scale marine on the base: At first they started doing these as cute add-ons for the titan kits.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Closeup on the Warhound. This figure is done entirely with ink washes over bare metal. That waas another phase I was going through - it works really great on metal knights in full plate armor.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Warhound from the back.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Metal Reaver. These cost as much as two or three plastic ones, but the detail is better (lack of detail was a problem with early Citadel large plastic kits - my guess is they did the masters in the same scale as the smaller stuff, they just didn't shrink it quite as much for production moulds).
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
This is also done with ink washes over bare metal. Well, the red panels are. The rest is normal paint.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Multi-melta and a chainfist. The metal chainfist is much better than the plastic one.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Top view.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Another Warhound. This one is done with normal paints.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Nicely obscured by the cotton smoke screen.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Warhound from above.
2004-06-02
Black Dragon
And a closer view from behind.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Warlord titan 'Rainbow Warrior'. There just happened to be 7 panels (5 on carapace and 2 on legs), so I painted each one in a different color.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
The runes are just random gibberish.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Top view shows the Imperial Eagle emblem. The kits had two head variants but only one carapace, so unless you felt like scraping it off, the chaos guys also carried the eagle.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
There was something in the rules linking the amount of weapons carried to the speed of the titan. This is a fast scout model, intended to fire off its support missiles and then close into melee.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Multi-melta is a powerful but short-ranged weapon.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Why are missiles always painted white with red nose cones?
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
The Pink Avenger. Customised with plastic marine chain-bayonet and a chaingun from Dark Future.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Another view of the Pink Avenger.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
The models came with multiple antennas, but they were just begging to snap off, so in the end I didn't use them at all.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
I think this blue one was the first one I did. Armed with a missile launcher, defense laser and a las-cutter, or las-gutter as it was often called.
2004-06-02
Purple Worm
This is an old Grenadier figure, I think. It sat on my desk for a very long time when I had a sort of painting hiatus going. Then I just finished it.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
This is a medium class configuration, if I remember correctly.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
IMHO, the nice thing about Adeptus Titanicus was that titan weapons were just multiples of the normal heavy weapons in the game. If you ask me, they went astray when they started adding new weapons into the game.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
I think this was the second one I painted. My red paint was not very good, as you can see on the carapace.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
Macro Cannon and two Autocannon(4)'s - a good combination. Autocannons are cheap and effective knocking down void shields while the macro cannon packs the punch to actually inflict criticals. Titans are so large you can't just whittle away their hit points with pinpricks, you need to be able to cause critical hits.
2004-06-02
Adeptus Titanicus
And here's the horrid carapace.
2004-06-02
Ogre
Pan-European Fencer. I actually rather like the model. Too bad it was ruined by a batch of bad varnish I had...
2004-06-02
Ogre
Another view of the Fencer. Note how bad the decals are.
2004-06-02
Ogre
Fencer was sort of poor man's Ogre, if I recall correctly.
2004-06-02
Ogre
A MkIII Ogre in Combine colors. The black scheme is a bit dull (and dusty!). I was trying for an eyeball effect here, but it really doesn't come through.
2004-06-02
Ogre
Side view of MkIII Ogre.
2004-06-02
Purple Worm
Pretty simple really. Purple base, wash and highlight. A bit of detail work and that's it.
2004-06-02
Ogre
MkIII Ogre view from the top.
2004-06-02
Ogre
This an Ogre MkV. I was going through my tiger stripe phase when I painted this one.
2004-06-02
Ogre
I think the MkV is better than the black MkIII, but it is a bit monotonous. Perhaps the eyeball thing would have worked better with the two main batteries.
2004-06-02
Ogre
MkV from the side. The join between front and rear hull is very weak for a very very heavy metal model.
2004-06-02
Ogre
These are the old Ral Partha models. There's an error here: The MkV has only 12 AP batteries, therefore there are 4 extra ones in the back.
2004-06-02
Valkyrie
This is a plastic model, 1/200 I think. Or even smaller, though the proportions may be off (very common with toys).
2004-06-02
Valkyrie
That's a VF-1S Super, TV series version.
2004-06-02
Armored Valkyrie
These were supposed to be the same scale (1/200), but as you can see, they're really not.
2004-06-02
Armored Valkyrie
There are essentially toys, they're not very good models.
2004-06-02
Armored Valkyrie
I did these when we were playing Mecha! a lot with 'full scale' models. These were for the light stuff, real men used 1/100 Macross or 1/144 Gundam models.
2004-06-02
Purple Worm
I like the emerging-from-ground base. It doesn't look big enough to swallow adventurers whole, though.
2004-06-02
Armored Valkyrie
I'm really not very good at all with plastic models.
2004-06-02
Silent Death
These are from the original Silent Death. They changed the designs for the second edition - some for the better, some for the worse.
2004-06-02
Silent Death
This is a Salamander. It reminds me more of a condor or something, though. I absolutely hate the new model, this is a much better design.
2004-06-02
Silent Death
As you can guess, these are still from the tiger stripe phase.
2004-06-02
Silent Death
And this one is called Pharsii II, I think. It's seriously off-scale, it's really one of the heaviest fighters in the game.
2004-06-02
Silent Death
Another view of the Pharsii.
2004-06-02
Epic
I scratch-built these from various bits and pieces to be used as super-heavy tanks in Epic/Adeptus Titanicus/Space Marine.
2004-06-02
Epic
The hull is from an unknown toy tank, the turret base from Dark Future, the gun is a titan las-cutter and the magazine comes from a flakvierling kit.
2004-06-02
Epic
The hull is actually a racing car I got from an easter egg (the hood and cockpit are puttied), the missiles might be from a Hind-D I never finished.
2004-06-02
Renegade Legion: Centurion
These are the models from the game box. Rather crappy, really, I've seen better stuff in cereal boxes.
2004-06-02
Blue Dragon
This is an old Tom Meier figure he did for Citadel in mid-80's or so. I think it was actually called Oriental Dragon.
